This is our most comprehensive non-invasive prenatal screening available in the UK, offering peace of mind for parents who want a deeper look into their baby’s genetic health.

Available from 10 weeks (counted from the first day of your last period), this test analyses fragments of fetal DNA found in the mother’s bloodstream, even detectable from as early as week 5. By week 10, there’s enough to deliver accurate, high-specificity results.

This advanced screening looks at:

• All chromosomes

• 9 microdeletions

• Single-gene (de novo) disorders including common inherited conditions

The test is performed via a simple blood draw and includes a reassurance scan as part of the appointment.

This is a great choice if you're seeking extra reassurance or have a medical reason for a more detailed genetic insight.

Who it's for

• Parents who want to screen all 23 pairs of chromosomes for known anomalies

• Parents who are carriers of inherited genetic conditions included in the screening

• Families where there is advanced paternal age (over 40)

• Where abnormal ultrasound findings suggest a possible monogenic disorder

• Parents looking to avoid invasive diagnostic procedures such as amniocentesis

This test offers maximum insight, with minimal risk.

What happens

This appointment begins with an early pregnancy scan, just like our standalone EP service, offering a moment of calm and connection before we move into the testing stage.

Our sonographers are also trained and experienced in venepuncture, so once we’ve confirmed your preferences, they’ll take a small blood sample (usually from your arm, sometimes from your hand). We aim to make this quick, calm and as comfortable as possible.

You’ll be asked whether you’d like your baby’s gender to be included in your results, and we’ll guide you through a short consent form so the lab can begin processing your sample.

Before you leave, your sonographer will provide you with printed scan images and send the digital version (photos and video) straight to your phone.

Preparation

This appointment begins with an early pregnancy scan, exactly as you’d expect from our standalone service.

To help us get the clearest possible images (and the best ones to take home!), hydrate well in the 3–4 days leading up to your scan, aim for up to 3 litres of water a day if you can. It really does make a difference.

We’ll also be taking a blood sample after your scan, so make sure you’re well hydrated and have eaten beforehand. Keeping warm helps too!

You'll be asked whether you’d like to know the gender of your baby, and you’ll need to sign a consent form allowing us to send your blood sample to the lab.

And finally, you’ll leave with your printed scan photos in hand and your digital images and video sent straight to your phone, no waiting required.

On the day

Eat and drink well before your appointment, but there’s no need to overfill your bladder. We recommend emptying your bladder before you leave home, then sipping up to 500ml of water on your way to us.

For the best experience when taking blood, it really helps if you’ve eaten recently, stayed well hydrated, and kept warm, it truly makes a difference!

If your appointment is Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, head to Main Reception at Greetwell Place, and the lovely team there will let us know you’ve arrived.

If your appointment is outside these hours, when reception is closed, follow the road through the car park to the right of the building, go past the 5mph sign, and park near the ScanLinc sandwich board sign, this is our private entrance.

Please wait in your car or nearby at a respectful distance until we call you in. Not everyone is ready to share their news publicly, and some people are here for difficult reasons. Your privacy and theirs matters.
