WHY SCANLINC EXISTS

And why it’s quietly changing care in Lincolnshire
ScanLinc didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a conversation.

Back in 2017, I was working as a Midwife and Sonographer in a busy early pregnancy unit in Glasgow. One day, during a chat with a clinical applications specialist, something clicked. He mentioned that private early pregnancy scanning was rare in Lincolnshire. That it was needed. That maybe, just maybe, I should be the one to do it.
That conversation planted a seed.

We were already planning to move back to Lincoln from Scotland one day, but when my partner was offered a new job in Newark, the timeline sped up. As I explored career options in the area, I realised there wasn’t a role that allowed me to continue the work I truly loved. So I created one.
From a seed to a service
ScanLinc started simply: one room, one machine, and a mission to offer the kind of care I wished more people had access to.
In Lincolnshire at the time, early pregnancy NHS services were limited. Appointments were short. Scan slots were daytime-only, Monday to Friday. There was little room for reassurance, or real conversations. Women and families were left navigating symptoms alone, waiting too long, or being sent to A&E when they didn’t need an emergency room, they needed clarity and calm.
I knew it could be better.
And I wasn’t the only one.
The team that brought it to life
Today, ScanLinc is powered by three women who live and breathe this work.

Hannah, my now daughter-in-law and Technical Director, joined ScanLinc early on and has been instrumental in shaping what we’ve become. A qualified Sonographer, she’s an innovator at heart — always bringing the latest in imaging technology and clinical practices to the clinic (most recently introducing 8K scan enhancements). She’s also the reason our operations run seamlessly, behind the scenes and in the scan room. I might have started this, but Hannah took it to another level.

Megan is a qualified, HCPC-registered Sonographer who brings deep insight and calm professionalism to every scan. She works across both ScanLinc and the NHS, which keeps us connected to evolving national protocols and ensures our care stays current, consistent, and truly integrated. Her ability to bring the best of both worlds, the empathy of private practice with the rigour of the public sector, is invaluable.
While we each have different backgrounds, we’re united by shared values: compassion, ethics, and time-rich care.
Why we’re different
We’re not a conveyor belt clinic. We’re not about frills or upsells. We’re here to offer something that often feels missing in this space: trust, time, and true listening.
We’ve grown from offering early pregnancy reassurance to now supporting people across fertility, gynaecology, blood testing, and beyond, while keeping our size intentionally small and our care deeply personal.
We’re midwives, mothers, clinicians, and women who’ve been on both sides of the scan room. We know what it’s like to walk in with a mixture of hope and fear. That’s why we make sure no one leaves feeling dismissed, rushed, or unheard.
This isn’t just a service. It’s a safe haven.And we’re proud of what we’ve built, together.
Whether you’re looking for answers, reassurance, or just a softer place to land — you’re in the right place.
We’ll meet you there.
