Full Blood Count (FBC)
Service Description
A Full Blood Count (FBC) is one of the most common blood tests and offers a broad snapshot of your overall health. It helps detect things like anaemia, infections, and potential blood disorders, often before symptoms even appear. This test looks at several components of your blood to give a full picture of how things are working: • Red Blood Cells (RBC): These carry oxygen through your body. • Haemoglobin (Hb): The protein in red blood cells that holds oxygen. • Haematocrit (Hct): The percentage of your blood made up of red cells. • White Blood Cells (WBC): Key to your immune system, showing signs of infection or inflammation. • Platelets: Help with blood clotting and wound healing. • MCV (Mean Cell Volume): Shows the average size of your red blood cells — helpful for identifying types of anaemia. • MCH/MCHC: Measure how much haemoglobin is in each red blood cell. This is a go-to test for giving your body’s story a closer look, whether you’ve got specific concerns or just want to check in on your general health.
