Hepatitis B Profile
(surface antigen + Hep B core antibody HBsAg/Anti-HBc) (HEPB)
Service Description
Hepatitis B is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It's primarily spread through blood and body fluids and can be either short-term (acute) or long-term (chronic). While many recover fully, chronic hepatitis B can lead to serious liver issues like cirrhosis or liver cancer, often without noticeable symptoms. This test checks for: • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) - shows if you currently have the virus • Hepatitis B Surface Antibodies (Anti-HBs) - indicates immunity, either from past infection or vaccination • Hepatitis B Core Antibodies (Anti-HBc IgG/IgM) - detects past or current infection This panel gives a full picture of your hepatitis B status, whether you’ve been exposed, are currently infected, or have immunity.

General Information If you have questions about your procedure, please discuss them with the clinician at the start of your appointment or contact us in advance to arrange a call. In line with GDPR, your data is never shared without consent, stored securely in accordance with ISO 27001 & ISO 27018, and held for one year before secure destruction. Venepuncture T&Cs We are a non-diagnostic clinic offering venepuncture for blood tests performed by third-party labs. We can describe test functions, but clients are responsible for choosing tests suitable for their needs. Venepuncture involves using a needle to draw blood, usually from a vein in the inner elbow or sometimes the hand. Most tests require <10ml blood; multiple tests are kept to a single site where possible. All staff are fully trained and follow procedures to minimise risk. Risks include bruising, pain, infection, or fainting. Sometimes, re-attempts are necessary if the first venepuncture is unsuccessful. Eat and drink well beforehand to reduce risks; if not, we may rebook your appointment. You may withdraw consent at any time. With consent, we can signpost you to services or contact your GP, but we cannot offer treatment, diagnosis, or direct referrals for abnormal results. Pregnancy-related Ultrasound T&Cs Our scans provide additional pregnancy imaging and do not replace NHS scans. Sex identification cannot be 100% guaranteed—it is the sonographer’s opinion only. If later scans contradict our opinion, we offer one free rescan, but no refunds. For 3D/4D scans, image quality depends on the baby’s position; one rescan may be offered at the sonographer’s discretion. Factors affecting image quality include high BMI, an empty bladder, excess adipose tissue, or bowel gas. Do not empty your bladder immediately before your scan; a moderately full bladder is required. We will do our best to obtain images during your appointment; if unsuccessful, we may offer one further rescan appointment, subject to availability and management discretion, at no extra cost. All scans must be paid in full by the end of the first appointment. If an abnormality is suspected, the sonographer will explain findings and, with your consent, may contact your GP or provide a report for your healthcare provider. By proceeding, you consent to the ultrasound examination, understand it is non-diagnostic, have read the disclaimer, and agree not to hold ScanLinc responsible for undetected abnormalities. By booking, you accept these terms
